You can also focus search results to specific types of resources, dates ranges, populations, geographic locations and more by using limiters.

Limiters vary by database, with more precise options available in discipline specific databases. 

Limiters change based on the search mode. Basic search mode has a brief list of helpful limiters under the Limit Your Results section. Following the Advanced Search Mode link under the main search box offers the complete array of limiters. 

Adding too many limiters to a search will result in very little useful results. While some limiters may significantly pare down a result list, others may not depending on the subject and limiter selected.
