Community Activism and Civil Rights

"Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Our struggle is not the struggle of a day, a week, a month, or a year, it is the struggle of a lifetime. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble."

– Congressman John Lewis in a tweet from June 2018

This virtual library display contains a variety of digital resources from both the JKM Libary and from other sources that focus on the Civil Rights Movement and continuing struggle for equality in America, as well as the broader concepts of community activism and social justice. This display is also in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., his work, and his legacy. You will see resources focusing on racial justice and equality, but also environmental justice, immigrants' rights, women's rights, LGBTQ rights, and more. The intent of this virtual display is to educate and inspire.
