AMA style stands for the American Medical Association style. It is used primarily by those wrting and publishing in the Health Science fields.
Please note that there is another citation style using the AMA acronym, the American Management Association, which is used in business/management fields. These are two different styles, so please make sure you are consulting the American Medical Association manual of style when directed to do so.
