The International Edible Book Festival is an annual event usually held on or around April 1, which is also known as Edible Book Day. The global event has been celebrated since 2000 in various parts of the world, where 'edible books' are created, displayed, and small festivals are held.
What is an 'edible book'? An 'edible book' is a food or beverage item inspired by a book, character, or the general love of reading. Puns are highly encouraged. Contestants can create an 'edible book' to submit to the festival contest, and their literary creations will be tasted and judged by a panel. Prizes will be distributed! Chatham University has been celebrating this fun international event since 2012 as a collaboration between the JKM Library and Food Studies program.
The 2024 International Edible Book Festival will be held on Monday, April 8th from 4:00pm-6:00pm on the first floor of the library building! Learn more and register to submit an 'edible book' to the contest, go to Happenings. Questions? Ask a librarian!
