For Staff: Linking Database Content from Moodle

EBSCO Databases

While cutting and pasting the URL in the address bar is the only way to link content with some databases, using the permanent links or permalinks in other databases is required to effectively access the material.

In the library's EBSCOhost databases:

1.  Click on the article title to enter the full record.

2.  On the left side of the screen, click on the Permalink icon.

3.  Cut and paste the address appearing above the article title into your Moodle Course.

Ovid Databases

For Ovid databases:

1.  From the result list, click on the article title to enter the full record.

2.  Click on the E-mail jumpstart link above the article.

3.  E-mail the link to yourself, then cut and paste the link into your Moodle course.

LexisNexis Database

For NexisUni:

  1. From the result list, click on the article title to enter the full record.
  2. In the upper right corner, there are a series of icons. Click on the one that looks like a clipboard with a little link below it:
  3. In the screen that pops up, you have the option to copy the article link. Right click on the link and select:
    1. In Firefox: Copy Link Location
    2. In Chrome: Copy link address
    3. In Internet Explorer: Copy shortcut
  4. Paste the link into Moodle and add our header to the beginning so that folks can access the article both on and off campus: https://go.openathens.net/redirector/chatham.edu?url=

Other Databases

For other databases not falling under the categories above, you should be able to take the URL from the address bar and attach the proxy prefix to place in Moodle.  The prefix allows only Chatham affiliates to access the material.  If the prefix is not attached to the the URL, students will not be able to access the material.

 Prefix: https://go.openathens.net/redirector/chatham.edu?url=

If this does not work, please contact the reference desk for assistance.
