Borrowing Policies for Chatham Community: Adjunct

Wondering how long you can keep a library item for? Look no further! Choose your patron type to get started.

 Loan Privileges for Adjunct Faculty

Chatham University Adjunct Faculty who are teaching a class in the current semester have complete library borrowing privileges.

Check-out Limit: 100 items (or as many items as you can keep track of at once!)

Please Note: You must be present to check out library items on your account. You cannot send someone else to the library with your ID card to check out items for you. The only exception to this is the Proxy Borrowing Service (see Proxy Borrower Account tab here).

JKM Library-owned circulating books semester loan All JKM items are due back by the end of the semester and no renewals are allowed. You may check the items out again if you are continuing to teach at Chatham.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Adjunct Faculty do not pay late fines but are charged replacement fees for any items that are lost, damaged, or never returned.

Media (DVDs, CDs, & external disc drives) 2 weeks (14 days) – can be extended for
classroom use
2 week (14 day renewal)
Periodicals & reference 24 hours – stop by Circulation Desk 24 hours
Course Reserves Depends on the particular item – can be extended for instructor of course No renewals
Headphones, extension cords, Mac chargers 4 hours 1 (4 hour renewal)
Individual study room key 4 hours 1 (4 hour renewal)
Group study room key Loaned for duration of reservation You may extend your reservation at the Circulation Desk if the room is available.
E-ZBorrow*

Semester loan
(2 weeks to pick up after notice is sent)

No renewals
ILLiad* Due date set by lending library Per lending library (renew through your ILLiad account)
Chatham student publications
(tutorials, theses, capstones, dissertations)
Please view our policies for accessing student publications here.
* The replacement and processing fees for items borrowed through E-ZBorrow or ILLiad that are lost or returned damaged are determined by the lending library.

Lost Item Replacement:

  • Item Replacement Fee**: $100
  • Processing Fee***: $25
  • Total: $125

**This is the default replacement cost for any JKM Library item. Contact the Access Services Librarian to find out if a replacement copy may be purchased. If the replacement cost of the item exceeds $100 the patron will be charged the additional amount plus the processing fee.

*** The processing fee is charged whether or not a replacement copy is accepted.

Chatham University Staff and faculty must clear their library accounts before receiving their final check. Failure to resolve any and all library charges will result in the loss of library privileges.
